Raw Materials for Car Mat Manufacturing

The quality of the finished mat starts with the quality of the raw material. We use proven grades of EVA granulate, rubber compounds and carpet fabrics, with incoming inspection on every batch.

The Raw Materials We Use

Each type of raw material determines key consumer properties of the finished mat — weight, flexibility, wear resistance, and behavior across temperature conditions.

EVA Granulate (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate)

Vinyl acetate content of 18–28% — determines the balance between softness and strength. Finished-product density of 0.15–0.20 g/cm³. The material contains no PVC or toxic plasticizers.

Rubber Compounds (SBR, NBR)

SBR synthetic rubber is the base compound for standard rubber mats. We use NBR (nitrile rubber) for models with increased resistance to oils and fuel.

Carpet Fabrics (Polyamide, Polypropylene)

Needle-punched nonwoven or tufted fabric on a rubber backing. Pile height of 5–12 mm and density of 400–700 g/m² determine the wear resistance and appearance of the carpet mat.

Faux Leather (PVC Leatherette)

A two-layer material: a PVC face layer embossed to mimic leather, with a nonwoven or fabric backing. Used for premium mats and edge trim.

Incoming Inspection Parameters

How We Check Raw Materials Before Production

Every batch of raw material is inspected before it enters production. Deviation from specification means return to the supplier, no exceptions.

Visual Inspection

Checking color, uniformity and absence of foreign particles in the granulate or fabric. The first checkpoint on intake.

Physical Testing

Measuring density, Shore hardness and melt index. For carpet fabric — checking pile height and density.

Temperature Testing

Samples are held at −40°C and +90°C — checked for cracking, deformation, and changes in geometry.

Chemical Analysis

Testing for the absence of restricted substances (heavy metals, PAHs) — mandatory for batches destined for the European market.

How Raw Material Choice Affects Mat Characteristics

Every raw material decision directly affects the consumer properties of the finished product.

EVA → EVA mats

Higher VA content gives a soft, warm mat. Lower content gives a firmer, more durable one. Density of 0.15–0.20 g/cm³ results in a final set weight of 1.4–1.8 kg.

EVA mats

SBR/NBR → rubber mats

SBR gives standard wear resistance; NBR gives increased resistance to oil and fuel. Hardness of 50–70 Shore A determines mat stiffness.

Rubber mats

Carpet fabric → carpet mats

Pile height of 8–12 mm gives a soft, "premium" feel. 5–7 mm is a practical option with better wear resistance. Density of 600–700 g/m² gives a long service life.

Carpet mats

PVC leatherette → faux leather mats

Face-layer thickness of 0.8–1.2 mm determines durability. Large- or fine-grain leather-look embossing is selected for the target price segment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Raw Materials

What raw material is used to manufacture EVA mats?

EVA mats are made from ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) granulate with a vinyl acetate content of 18–28%. A higher VA content gives softness and flexibility at low temperatures; a lower content gives increased rigidity and wear resistance.

What kind of rubber are car mats made from?

We use synthetic rubber (SBR, NBR) or blends of natural and synthetic rubber. The formulation is selected for target characteristics: Shore hardness, operating temperature range, and resistance to oils and fuel.

How is raw material quality checked before production?

Every batch of raw material undergoes incoming inspection: checking density and melt index for EVA granulate, hardness and chemical composition for rubber compounds, and density and pile height for textile fabrics. Batches that deviate from specification are returned to the supplier.

Can I order mats made from material with enhanced characteristics?

Yes, on request we manufacture from raw materials with enhanced characteristics: increased thickness, cold resistance down to −60°C, or chemical resistance to aggressive substances. Confirm requirements with your manager when placing an OEM order.

Raw Materials for Car Mats — What Determines the Quality of the Finished Product

Raw materials for car mats directly determine the service life, consumer properties and production cost of the finished product. We control material quality on intake — this lets us guarantee stable product characteristics from batch to batch, which is critical for wholesale buyers.

EVA Granulate — the Base of Lightweight, Moisture-Resistant Mats

The quality of EVA granulate determines several key mat properties: flexibility at low temperatures, resistance to deformation under load, and color durability. We use granulate with a VA content of 18–28% and check every batch for melt index and density.

Rubber Compounds — Strength and Chemical Resistance

SBR rubber compounds provide a standard level of wear resistance. For special applications (commercial vehicles, taxi fleets), we use NBR (nitrile rubber) with increased resistance to technical fluids. Shore hardness of 50–70 Shore A is the working range for most car mats.

The Link Between Raw Material Quality and Delivery Terms

Raw material control lets us guarantee the characteristics of the finished product. For OEM orders with special requirements, we select the composition to match the customer's specification. Contact us: +7 (901) 078-09-42 · info@carmatssupplier.com
